Abstract

The Algerian Constitutional Court is considered one of the most important independent oversight institutions, tasked with ensuring respect for the Constitution, and exercising certain competencies that are connected to other constitutional institutions and bodies, such as the National Independent Authority for Elections tasked with ensuring respect for the transparency of the electoral process across its various stages. The scope of the Constitutional Court’s intervention in its relationship with the independent authority is determined through the provisions of the Organic Law on Elections 21-01, as an institution that exercises both prior and subsequent oversight over elections of a national character.
